  1. How do I apply for SPUR’s enhanced funding support?

You do not need to apply for SPUR. It is automatically applicable for WSQ and national certifiable courses conducted by SPUR Training Providers.

Companies who wish to upgrade their staff can approach any of the SPUR Training Providers directly, depending on their sectors. For training needs, companies can approach SNEF (hotline: 6 827 6827 or email: webmaster@snef.org.sg) or WDA directly (hotline: 6883 5885 or email: wda_enquiry@wda.gov.sg).

Workers and job seekers who wish to upgrade themselves can go directly to any SPUR Training Provider, even if they do not have the support of an employer

Unemployed Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs) who need training or employment assistance can approach any of the Career Centres at the Community Development Councils (CDCs) or e2i. Please call the centre to schedule an appointment in advance to avoid unnecessary waiting time.

  2. How does my company apply/ claim for the enhanced absentee payroll for courses/ training programmes under SPUR?

Absentee payroll is administered via two modes - the SPUR Training Providers or the SRPNet. The applicable mode depends on the course. Companies should check with the SPUR Training Provider they work with on the mode adopted for the particular course.

    1. For absentee payroll claims administered under SRPNet, the company (employer) must first register for a SRP Participating account at SRPNet. This is a one-time process and must be done in advance (recommended at least seven working days before course commencement). Companies (employers) are not allowed to have more than one account.

Upon submission of registration via the SRPNet, an email acknowledgement will be sent to the company.

Approval for registration is normally within three working days and notification of approval is sent to the company via email.

Upon receipt of registration approval, the company (employer) must log onto the SRPNet to complete an online GIRO Direct Credit authorization form. A copy of which must then be printed, signed, verified by the bank and returned to WDA (via mail) for processing. This is also a one-time process.

After which, the company (employer) may submit their application for absentee payroll funding directly via the SRPNet at least one day before course commencement.

    2. For absentee payroll administered directly by SPUR Training Providers, companies should check with the centre on their procedure for claims. Click here for the list of SPUR Training Providers and their web addresses to find out more.
  3. I am currently not working or retrenched. Am I eligible for subsidised rates under SPUR for courses conducted by SPUR Training Providers?

The training conducted by the SPUR Training Providers are at subsidized rates and is aimed at helping trainees find a job, or advance in their careers with the skills acquired. If you are currently not working but intend to re-enter the workforce, you may approach the relevant SPUR Training Provider who will advise you on the appropriate training programme and assist you in job placement after the training.

  4. What is this upgrading pathway? Does it mean I have to go for more than one course before I can get a job?

This is dependent on what you are looking for in terms of career and employment, your current level of qualifications and skills as well as the type of jobs you are interested in.

The upgrading pathway is a guide for you to meet your job aspirations i.e. what skills the job requires and where you can get the necessary training.

  5. What is SPUR’s validity period?

SPUR was implemented from 1 December 2008 and shall cease on 30 November 2010.
